UK Dance Championships 2011

     Bournemouth/England, Jan 13th - Jan 25th, 2011

This trip went by so quickly for us this year! It’s funny, because we were here only three weeks earlier, but London is really starting to feel like home! Luckily we were only here for 12 days, and yet in only 12 days, we did so much! We arrived on Friday, had lessons on Saturday, danced the Universal Championships on Sunday, more lessons on Monday, and then hopped in the car and drove down to Bournemouth, on the southern coast of England, on Monday afternoon. We heard some lectures and went to bed early, because on Tuesday began the United Kingdom Championships, the second most prestigious competition of the year. We danced the Rising Star Standard on Tuesday, making the 48, and the Open Standard on Wednesday, making the top 84.

Because we’ve been focusing so hard on our Standard for the past few months, we decided not to dance the Latin this year. This meant we had an extra day off on Thursday, and we took this opportunity to drive out into the Wiltshire countryside and see Stonehenge for the first time. We spent the rest of that day in Salisbury, relaxing at the Salisbury Starbucks and getting dinner at the King’s Head Inn, a gorgeous tavern on the River Avon.

On Friday we drove back to London and caught the 6:00 showing of The Black Swan. Then it was back to lessons on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. We even had a couple of lessons on Tuesday before catching our plane and heading back to home sweet home.
