Toe Heel Swivels

Intro:

This figure commences in Open Position, Double Hand Hold, and Gentleman Facing Wall. If repeated 1/4 turn is made on the first swivel (step 3). Although a 1/4 turn is danced on each swivel the turn on the swiveling foot may be slightly less. Steps 3-8 may be repeated.

Man stops Lady's backward movement at the end at end of the preceding chasse by restricting the extension in his arms, therefore, the Open Position is a little closer than usual. On steps 3-8 the upper body and arms are held as still and toned as possible. The natural reaction to the swivels felt in the upper body indicates the turns for the Lady.

In order for the Lady to accept the lead, she retains her tone in her arms throughout steps 3-8, to match the tone in the Gentleman's arms. On steps 3-8 the upper body and arms are held as still as possible.

Precedes:

Gold: Change of Places Left to Right, Windmill, Spanish Arms

Follows:

Bronze - Silver: 3-8 Fallaway Rock (regaining normal hold on the second chasse), 3-8 Fallaway Throwaway, 3-8 Change of Places Right to Left, 3-20 Stalking Walks, Flicks, and Break (retaining Double Hand Hold)

Gold: Stalking Walks, Flicks and Break

Break - Additional Follow (Gold):

Hold the position achieved on step 8 for an extra 3/4 of a beat (Gentleman's weight on right foot and Lady on left foot) count "Q". Replace part weight to left foot (Lady right foot) in Promenade Position (Ball of Foot) 1/4 beat counted "a". Replace weight to the right foot (Lady LF) in Promenade Position (Ball, Flat) 1 beat counted "Q". Follow this with 3-8 of Fallaway Throwaway or Change of Places Right to Left.

Alternative Timing (Gold):

Steps 3-8 may be counted as "QQSQQS". A popular combination of the two versions is as follows: dance stesp 1-8 counted "QQ QQS QQS" then repeat steps 3-8 counted "QQ QQ QQ".
