Walks

Intro:

This figure commences in Closed Position and Gentleman Facing Wall. Gentleman's turn on step 1 is commenced towards the end of the previous beat of music. Walks may commence in Promenade Position, thus making no turn on 1.

On steps 1, 3, & 6 Lady's turn is commenced towards end of previous beat of music.

Precedes:

Bronze: Basic in Place, Fallaway Rock, Link, Mooch, Whip

Silver - Gold: Reverse Whip

Follows:

Bronze - Gold: 3-8 Fallaway Throwaway, 3-8 Change of Places Right to Left, Chasse diagonally forward LRL (turning 3/8 to the right to end with left foot to the side and slightly forward facing Lady; Lady chasse forward making no turn; to follow with Whip or Whip Throwaway)

Alternative Method (Silver - Gold):

For Gentleman, after steps 2 or 8 substitute single "Quick" steps for the chasses as follows:

On count "Q" place left foot diagonally forward, turning Lady to the left. On the next "Q", place right foot forward and across in Promenade Position turning Lady to the right. Repeat these two steps up to three times. Lead Lady into each turn towards the end of the previous beat of music.

For Lady, after steps 2 or 8 substitute single "Quick" steps for the chasses as follows:

On count "Q" place right foot to side, having turned 1/4 to the left on left foot. On the following "Q", left foot forward in Promenade Position, having turned 1/4 to the right on the right foot. Repeat these two steps up to three times making sure that each turn is made towards the end of the previous beat of music.

Development (Silver - Gold):

The alternative method of substituting single "Quick" steps for the chasses could be danced as follows (Gentleman using a "Merengue" action):

On count "Q" firmly straighten the right knee on the second half of the preceding step, causing the right hip to move back and to the right. Place the left foot diagonally forward with part weight. Lady closes her right foot to her left foot, having turned 1/4 to the left on the second half of the preceding beat.

On the next count "Q", firmly straighten left knee on the second half of the preceding step, causing the left hip to move back and to the left. Close the right foot to the left foot in Promenade Position with part weight. Lady places left foot forward and across in Promenade Position, having turned 1/4  to the right on the second half of the preceding beat.

Repeat these two up to three times, Gentleman taking weight fully onto last step. When using this method the Walks may be curved slightly to the left.
